Holy Listening: Group Session

$125.00

What comes to mind when you hear the word hospitality?

A quick swish of the toilet bowl before guests come over? Serving a savvy spread of foodie-approved appetizers?

In a biblical sense, hospitality is sacred; it's a unique way of dwelling WITH other. Hospitality is holy communion, an offering of space and grace for folks to be exactly who and where they are.

For many of us, the hospitality extended in Christian community was relatively shallow, even painful. Many of the conversations were filled with clichéd self-help ways of being good little Christians. Our doubt was demonized and suffering was
denied, leaving us feeling ostracized from the moralized majority that seemed immune from the agonies, anxieties, curiosities, addictions, and fragile humanity that are a part of our ongoing conversion in Christ.

You see, more than "community," we need a specific type of communing with God and other. We need the safety and grace to be our true selves with folks who are capable of practicing biblical hospitality. These people are called soul friends. They are brothers and sisters offering attentiveness and presence...WITH-ness. They sit with us in our pain and stoop with us in our longing. As we commune together, we uncover our innate longing for unconditional love and discover more of the belovedness and oneness we already have in Christ.

If you seek to give and receive true hospitality in a group setting where we learn to listen attentively to the Lord and others, then come.

Each month's gathering is for a holy conversation between the group members, the "director," and the Holy Spirit. Together in a safe and prayerful space, we listen and look for the presence of God in the events of each other's daily life. Through encouragement and attentiveness, the director supports the group members in ways that help you to discern and respond meaningfully to God's initiatives.
